Kirsi Seppänen - Legras & Haas
2nd of October 2021
Kirsi Seppänen, star of the Finnish Sommellerie industry (but not only!!)
Kirsi is today the sommelier and head of the wine program at the restaurant Ravinteli Bertha, in Tampere, Finland. Earlier this year, in September, Kirsi won the Best Sommelier of Finland competition. This is however not the first time that we heard about her ! Indeed, 2018 was definitely a milestone in Kirsi's career : she was a competitor of the "Best Young Sommelier international competition" held in Mexico. The same year, Kirsi won the Ruinart Challenge for the Nordic region as well as the Best Young Sommelier of Finland and, on top of that, won also the title of Best Sommelier of Finland ! We told you ! A real Rockstar !
When asking Kirsi if she had any mentor in the wine industry, she answers straight away "Yes ! My former colleagues from Vinoteca del Piemonte, in Tampere, Nea Sovelius, Hanne Halonen, Johanna Sutinen and Markus Saavalainen.
Can't wait to see you back on the stage for your next competition Kirsi !
Today, she is tasting for Champagne & Sommelier a top cuvée from the Champagne house "Legras & Haas".
Legras & Haas
Grand Cru - Blanc de Blanc - Vintage 2013
Appearance is clear, bright, light golden colour, small, elegant bubbles.
Nose clean, intense, developed. Aromas of stone fruits like white peach, exotic fruits as ripe fresh pineapple, mango, hint of floral notes as orange blossom. Sugared fruits, apple pie. Elegant aromas of oak aging, toastiness, spicyness. Powerful yet very fresh.
Palate clean, dry, elegant, velvety mousse. Moderate acidity, full bodied. The flavours follow the nose, the toastiness brings more body to the palate, fruit character is ripe, stone fruits, exotic fruits, floral notes as in the nose. Caramel, cinnamon. Very complex, lingering finish.
Very good quality champagne, powerful, fresh, very well balanced, juicy. Drink now, or cellar for over 10 years.
I would love to pair this one with creamy salmon soup, it would bring some glamour to an every day dish.
